Other random cutenesses

Little Miss Sunshine

One day I need to do a post about the coffee shops; they will be a common landscape of the kids' childhood memories.

Austin at his school's Friday morning assembly.  I love his gigantic backpack.

Second grade performed a song at assembly.  I cry at these things EVERY TIME.

The #1 highlight of September

We got to see this sweetness!!!

Those are the feet of our sweet number five.  Baby #5.  ?!?!?!

That little plastic baby is the actual size of our baby RIGHT NOW!  It still blows my mind that in just 12 weeks it has all it's human parts.  There is a tiny, itty, bitty human in my belly.  I never get tired of pondering the miracle and wonder of that reality.

Maybe Austin will get a brother for his birthday....

Not So Bad After All

September has not been too bad after all.  Here is what's been going on around our house....

Unassisted...

 ...Creativity

Rainy-day Cuddles

Sleeping late

Piracy

Heart-breaking Adorableness

Twistiness...

...with our most-awesome, go-getter neighbors...

...on stomachs full of pizza (triple brownie points)!

 Cleanliness

Bubbles

Kisses

Orneriness

New-found Responsibility

Like I said, not too bad after all.

The Transition

HI.

School has started.  We are still making the transition from summer-constantly-unscheduled-free-for-all-goodness into alarm-clock-out-the-door-shuffling-to-and-fro-school life.

It's a lifestyle choice that I make consciously, willingly and thankfully.

But the truth is, I'm not great at transitions.  I don't prepare well for them, and once I'm in them, I tend to shut-down when I am overwhelmed by the new routines.  I have no idea why I am this way, but I'm putting it on my list of things to investigate about myself.

What that means for my kids is that they are ill-prepared for the summer-to-school switch.  It takes quite a while for all of us to adapt to new routines.  And that's ok.  It just takes me a while to sort out priorities and their corresponding time slots.  Blogging is at the bottom of the barrel, for now.

Elia started 2nd grade and is totally ROCKING it.  The teacher complimented her work-ethic the second week in.  Go Elia!!

Austin started kindergarten.  And, well, let's just say he is a bit like me when it comes to transitions.  Perhaps more so.  His little voice crying, "Don't leave me here!" as we left his classroom the first day echoed through my mind relentlessly.  And yes, I wept all day.  BUT the going-to-school process gets better each week, and we can already see him expressing his brilliant mind in new ways.  It's going to be a good year.

Emerson is back at her preschool two days a week with Austin's teacher from last year.  She loves it.

Hannah started there as well and is adjusting nicely, which was a bit of a surprise.

I love, cherish and adore my 10 hours a week with no children.  Love.  Cherish.  Adore.
Thank you back-to-school life.

About to head off for the first day of school.  You can tell from the image that Elia is the only one who truly knows what is about to happen.

Gonna be a glory year.

We had breakfast with the Harris' to start the year with a sha-bang!

Who?

The March

Matthews Elementary housing two Vaclavs, for now.

Boo-ya.  I'm a second-grader and Dad's wearing a purse.

The reality was setting in.  I had to leave the room immediately after I took this photo.  Good timing, too, because I had a total meltdown in the hallway.
OH, and Michael is doing pretty good too.  He has his own slew of adjustments to make with the coffee shops each new semester.  He is much better at transitions than me but still.  I would much rather manage the afternoon snack than hordes of coffee-crazed customers (or at least that's how I imagine it).

He's a rock that keeps our family (and three shops) steady in the wobbly transition time.  I'm so thankful for him.
